WiseImage- User's Guide Managing Raster Images Raster Images in AutoCAD Drawings With AutoCAD you can add raster images to your vector-based AutoCAD drawings, and then view and plot the resulting file. A raster image inserted in the drawing is arranged as an external reference and is not a part of the AutoCAD drawing file. When inserting, the AutoCAD object raster image insertion (Image) is created, which contains a path to the image file, scale, rotation angle, insertion point and other features. You can modify or delete the reference to the raster image at any time. This method of managing raster images slightly increases the size of the drawing file. The same image can be reinserted in the drawing multiple times as if it were a block. Each image insertion can have its own parameters, as well as its own clipping boundary. However, if one instance is edited, all the other entries are changed. Raster images, like many other AutoCAD drawing objects, can be rotated, scaled, copied, moved, or clipped. You can adjust the image contrast and brightness or change its size and position using grips. * For more information on managing raster images see the AutoCAD documentation. AutoCAD supports all the standard image file formats used in computer graphics, document management, mapping and geographiic information systems (GIS). Images can be bitonal (monochrome), 8-bit grayscale, 8-bit color or 24-bit color. Some image file formats support images with transparent pixels. When the image transparency is on, AutoCAD recognizes transparent pixels on the screen and shows "through" them the graphics placed beneath. In bitonal images the background pixels are treated as transparent ones. Each image inserted in an AutoCAD drawing has a border. You can select an image by specifying a point on its border. However, if you specify a point inside an image, then it does not select the image. If image borders are not displayed on the screen, then it is impossible to select an image by picking. If the border display is off, then an image is selected by its layer, object name, etc. When inserting an image in the drawing, the image border inherits the current parameters of the image creation, including color, layer, line type and line type scale. In the case of bitonal images, an image color and its boundary color are the same. As with the other AutoCAD objects, you can change an image and its boundary features, including: Ÿ image layer, boundary color and line type Ÿ display of the image boundary on the screen Ÿ scale, rotation angle, width and height 22

Managing Raster Images
Raster Images in AutoCAD Drawings
With AutoCAD you can add raster images to your vector-based AutoCAD drawings,
and then view and plot the resulting file.
A raster image inserted in the drawing is arranged as an
external reference
and is
not a part of the AutoCAD drawing file. When inserting, the AutoCAD
object
raster
image insertion
(Image) is created, which contains a path to the image file, scale,
rotation angle, insertion point and other features. You can modify or delete the
reference to the raster image at any time. This method of managing raster images
slightly increases the size of the drawing file.
The same image can be reinserted in the drawing multiple times as if it were a
block. Each image insertion can have its own parameters, as well as its own
clipping boundary. However, if one instance is edited, all the other entries are
changed.
Raster images, like many other AutoCAD drawing objects, can be rotated, scaled,
copied, moved, or clipped. You can adjust the image contrast and brightness or
change its size and position using grips.
*
For more information on managing raster images see the AutoCAD
documentation.
AutoCAD supports all the standard image file formats used in computer graphics,
document management, mapping and geographiic information systems (GIS).
Images can be bitonal (monochrome), 8-bit grayscale, 8-bit color or 24-bit color.
Some image file formats support images with transparent pixels. When the image
transparency is on, AutoCAD recognizes transparent pixels on the screen and
shows “through” them the graphics placed beneath. In bitonal images the
background pixels are treated as transparent ones.
Each image inserted in an AutoCAD drawing has a border. You can select an
image by specifying a point on its border. However,
if you specify a point inside an
image, then it does not select the image. If image borders are not displayed on the
screen, then it is impossible to select an image by picking. If the border display is
off, then an image is selected by its layer, object name, etc.
When inserting an image in the drawing, the image border inherits the current
parameters of the image creation, including color, layer, line type and line type
scale. In the case of bitonal images, an image color and its boundary color are the
same.
As with the other AutoCAD objects, you can change an image and its boundary
features, including:
°
image layer, boundary color and line type
°
display of the image boundary on the screen
°
scale, rotation angle, width and height
