8 Filtering Monochrome Images Monochrome filters are used to process bitonal images. Applying filters can considerably increase image quality and reduce the size of raster image files. This chapter describes the following monochrome filters: · Speckle Remover · Hole Remover · Smoothing · Thinning · Outline · Inversion · Thickening · Separating by Size Data Selection for Monochrome Filtration The monochrome filtration commands can work on a raster selection set or on a group of images. If you create a raster selection set and start the filtration command, it will be applied to this set. * For more information on raster selection see the relevant sections in Chapter 9. If there is no raster selection and several images are inserted and they are available (visible, located on unlocked layers), then you need to select a group of raster images before running the operation. Filtration commands can process images with a clipping boundary. Using this feature, you can restrict a filtration area on any image, specifying its clipping boundary. * For more detailed information on the selection procedure see "Selecting Several Images" on page 20. Speckle Remover The Speckle Remover filter removes raster objects (isolated pixel groups) that are smaller than those of the specified value. This filter can automatically estimate the spot size in the image.

8 Filtering Monochrome
Images
Monochrome filters are used to process bitonal images. Applying filters can
considerably increase image quality and reduce the size of raster image files.

Data Selection for Monochrome Filtration
