Warning The shock absorber is filled with gas under pressure and may cause severe damage if taken apart by unskilled persons. When carrying a passenger and luggage, set the rear shock absorber spring to maximum preload to improve motorcycle handling and keep safe clearance from the ground. You may find that rebound damping needs readjusting. Front fork adjusters (fig. 26-27) The front fork of this model has rebound and compression damping adjusters. This adjustment is done using the outer adjusters: 1) (fig. 26) to adjust rebound damping; 2) (fig. 26) to adjust inner spring preload; 3) (fig. 27) to adjust compression damping. Use a flat screwdriver and turn the adjuster (1) at the top of each fork leg to adjust rebound damping. Insert a screwdriver on the wheel shaft through hole, on the fork leg axle, and turn the adjuster (3, fig. 27). As you turn the adjusting screws (1 and 3), you will hear them click. Each click identifies a setting. Turn the screw all the way in to set the hardest damping (position 0). This will be your starting point. Now turn the screw anticlockwise and listen for the clicks that identify setting positions no. "1", "2" and so on. E 30
