2.4.1 Leading edge and direction definitions The leading edge, top, bottom, left, and right directions, and X and Y directions of the paper are defined as described below.  The edge in the feed direction of the paper is defined as the leading edge.  The direction of the leading edge of the paper is defined as the bottom direction, and its opposite direction is defined as the top direction.  When looking at the print surface of the paper, the left side is defined as the left direction, and the opposite side is defined as the right direction.  The left-right direction is defined as the X axis, with the right direction defined as the positive X direction.  The up-down direction is defined as the Y axis, with the down direction defined as the positive Y direction. The leading edge, top, bottom, left, and right directions, and the X and Y directions of the paper are shown in Figure 2.4.2.
