After 2500 km After running-in, never exceed 9000 rpm during normal use. E Strict observance of running-in recommendations will ensure longer engine life and reduce the likelihood of overhauls and tune-ups. Tyre condition Check tyre pressure and condition (page 46). Controls Work the brake, clutch, throttle and gear change controls (levers, pedals and twistgrips) and check for proper operation. Lights and indicators Make sure lights, indicators and horn work properly. Replace any burnt-out bulbs (page 45). Side stand Make sure side stand operates smoothly and is in the correct position (page 20). Warning In case of malfunctioning, do not ride the motorcycle and call a Ducati Dealer or Authorised Workshop. Pre-ride checks Warning Failure to carry out these checks before riding, may lead to motorcycle damage and severe injury to rider. Before riding, perform a thorough check-up on your bike as follows: Fuel level in the tank Check fuel level in the tank. Fill tank if needed (page 28). Engine oil level Check oil level in the sump through the sight glass. Top up with recommended oil if needed (page 48). Brake and clutch fluid Check fluid level in the relevant reservoirs. 24
