Leva comando frizione (fig. 8) La leva (1) che aziona il disinnesto della frizione, è dotata di pomello (2) per la regolazione della distanza tra la leva stessa e la manopola, sul semimanubrio. I Commutatore destro (fig. 9) 1) Interruttore ARRESTO MOTORE, a due posizioni: posizione (RUN) = marcia; posizione (OFF) = arresto del motore. Pedale comando freno posteriore (fig. 10) Per azionare il freno posteriore, premere il pedale (1) verso il basso con il piede. Il sistema di comando è di tipo idraulico. Tappo serbatoio carburante (fig. 13) Apertura Ruotare il tappo (1) in senso antiorario, con il palmo della mano. Chiusura Ruotare il tappo (1) in senso orario, con il palmo della mano e serrarlo opportunamente. I Attenzione Assicurarsi che il cavalletto laterale sia effettivamente ritornato in posizione di riposo. Adeguare il precarico in funzione del peso del pilota e dell'eventuale bagaglio, per garantire un'altezza costante del motociclo dal suolo. Ciò può richiedere l'adeguamento della regolazione del freno idraulico in estensione. Avviamento motore I Note Per avviare il motore a caldo seguite la procedura descritta per "Temperatura ambiente, alta". Arresto del motociclo Ridurre la velocità, scalare di marcia e rilasciare la manopola dell'acceleratore. Scalare fino ad inserire la prima e successivamente la folle. I Parcheggio Parcheggiare il motociclo fermo sul cavalletto laterale (vedi pag. 21). Ruotare i semimanubri completamente a sinistra e portare la chiave nella posizione LOCK per prevenire i furti. Accessori in dotazione (fig. 22) Nel codone, dietro la sella, è ricavato un vano (1, fig. 22) portaoggetti, per accedere al vano è necessario rimuovere lo schienalino (2, fig. 22), tirandolo verso l'esterno. Rimozione carenatura anteriore La carenatura anteriore è scomponibile in due parti: - scocca; - cupolino. I Estrarre il cupolino (9, fig. 30) dalla parte anteriore, con cautela, sfilandolo. Rimozione serbatoio carburante Note Per rimuovere il serbatoio del carburante, è necessario rimuovere preventivamente la scocca anteriore (vedi pag. 33). 1 Rimontaggio serbatoio Posizionare il serbatoio. Installare i distanziali in gomma (1, fig. 31) avvitandoli. Inserire i raccordi rapidi dei tubi di mandata e ritorno (2, fig. 32) accoppiandoli per colore (bianco con bianco e nero con nero) e applicando lubrificante sugli OR. I Attenzione I pernini (F, fig. 34), se premuti accidentalmente, provocano la chiusura delle lamelle sui raccordi rapidi, verificare che le lamelle siano in posizione aperta; in caso contrario, premere le linguette (A, fig. 33) per aprirle. 4 B A Sostituzione del filtro aria (fig. 36) Per accedere alla scatola filtro rimuovere la scocca anteriore (vedi pag. 33) e il serbatoio carburante (vedi pag. 34). I Non usare il motociclo senza filtro; le impurità presenti nell'aria potrebbero entrare nel motore, danneggiandolo. Reinstallare correttamente il filtro, come indicato in figura, nella sede della scatola filtro e rimontare il coperchio (1, fig. 36). Impianto frizione Se il gioco della leva di comando è eccessivo, il motociclo "saltella" o si arresta all'inserimento della marcia. Questi malfunzionamenti, sono indice di una presenza d'aria nell'impianto. Verifica usura pastiglie freni (fig. 39) I Freno anteriore Per facilitare il controllo delle pastiglie dei freni, senza doverle rimuovere dalla pinza, ogni pastiglia riporta un indicatore di consumo. 2 Regolazione del cavo comando acceleratore La manopola di comando acceleratore in tutte le posizioni di sterzata deve avere una corsa a vuoto, misurata sulla periferia del bordino della manopola, di 1,5÷2 mm. I Carica delle batterie (fig. 41) Per ricaricare le batterie è consigliabile rimuoverle dal motociclo. Scollegare per primo, il terminale negativo (-) nero, poi quello positivo (+) rosso. Controllo tensione catena trasmissione (fig. 42) Far girare lentamente la ruota posteriore per trovare la posizione in cui la catena risulta più tesa. I Sostituzione delle lampadine Prima di procedere alla sostituzione di una lampadina fulminata accertarsi che quella di ricambio abbia gli stessi valori di tensione e assorbimento di quelli specificati nell' "Impianto Elettrico" a pag. 61. Reinserire il connettore (5, fig. 45) prestando attenzione ad accoppiarlo correttamente con i relativi spinotti della lampadina. Per quanto concerne la lampadina (8, fig. 43) è sufficiente estrarre il portalampadina in gomma (9, fig. 46) e sfilare la lampadina dalla rispettiva sede, procedendo alla - 2002 Ducati MH900e 900e | Owners Manual - Page 46
I Luce arresto (fig. 47) Per la sostituzione della lampada luce arresto e posizione è necessario svitare le due viti (3) che fissano il trasparente (4) e rimuoverlo. Indicatori di direzione anteriori (fig. 48). Svitare la vite (3) e separare la coppetta (4) dal supporto indicatore. Pulizia generale Per mantenere nel tempo la brillantezza originale delle superfici metalliche e di quelle verniciate, il motociclo deve essere lavato e pulito periodicamente a seconda del servizio e dello stato delle strade che si percorrono. Clutch lever (fig. 8) Lever (1) disengages the clutch. It features a dial adjuster (2) for lever distance from the twistgrip on handlebar. Shock absorber adjusters The shock absorber is equipped with outer adjusters that enable you to adjust your motorcycle to the load. The ring nut (1) located on the bottom connection holding the shock absorber to the swingarm, controls rebound damping. STANDARD setting: - Ring nut (1) is turned all the way towards "hard". Rotate towards "soft" and count 10 clicks. - Knob (2) is turned all the way towards "hard". Starting the engine Note Follow the "High ambient temperature" procedure to start the engine when it is warm. Moving off 1) Disengage the clutch squeezing the control lever. 2) Push down on gear change lever sharply with the tip of your foot to engage the first gear. 3) Speed up engine, by turning the throttle twistgrip and slightly releasing the clutch lever at the same time. Stopping the motorcycle Slow down gradually, then shift down and release the throttle twistgrip. Finally change from first to neutral. Apply brakes and you will bring the motorcycle to a complete stop. To switch the engine off, simply turn the key to OFF (fig. 19). Removing the front fairing The front fairing is divided into two sections that can be taken apart: - body; - headlight fairing. Removing the body Disconnect the electric connector (1, fig. 27) (on both sides, under the body) for the front turn indicators. Lift the headlight fairing (9, fig. 30) gently from the front end. Removing the fuel tank Note Before you can remove the fuel tank, you will need to remove the body (see page 32). Refitting the fuel tank Place the tank in position. Install the rubber spacers (1, fig. 31) and tighten them. Fit the quick couplings for the delivery and return lines (2, fig. 32). Be sure to match the colours properly (connect white to white and black to black) and smear some lubricant on the O- - 2002 Ducati MH900e 900e | Owners Manual - Page 101
Warning If pressed accidentally, the pins (F, fig. 34) will cause the laminations of the quick couplings to close. Make sure the laminations are open. If not so, press the tabs (A, fig. 33) to open them. Connect the fuel sensor (3, fig. 33). Check that the key switch is turned to "OFF". Changing the air filter (fig. 36) The air box is accessible after removing the front body (see page 32) and the fuel tank (see page 33). Checking brake and clutch fluid level (fig. 38) Fluid level should never fall below the MIN mark on each reservoir. If level drops below the limit, air might get into the circuit and affect the operation of the system involved. Checking brake pads for wear (fig. 39) Front brake To facilitate inspection without removing the pads from the callipers, brake pads have a wear mark. 2 Throttle cable adjustment The throttle twistgrip must have a free play of 1.5-2 mm, measured at the edge of the twistgrip and at all positions of the handlebars. Charging the batteries (fig. 41) Before charging the batteries, it is best to remove them from the motorcycle. Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first, and then the red positive terminal (+). Checking drive chain tension (fig. 42) Turn the rear wheel slowly until you find the position where chain tension is highest. With the motorcycle on the side stand, push the chain up pressing with a finger at the point where it intersects with swingarm centreline. Replacing bulbs Before replacing a burnt-out bulb, make sure that the new one complies with voltage and wattage as specified on page 58 - "Electric System". Refit the connector (5, fig. 45) matching it properly with the bulb pins. To remove the bulb (8, fig. 43), simply take out the bulb rubber holder (9, fig. 46) and pull the bulb out of its socket, then fit a new bulb with equal rating. Stop light (fig. 47) To replace the stop and parking light bulb, unscrew the two screws (3) that secure the glass (4). Remove the glass. The bulb is of the bayonet-type: press and rotate anti-clockwise to remove. Fit the spare bulb by pressing and turning clockwise until it clicks.
