A printhead delivers agents and prints them onto the material in the build chamber. CAUTION: Observe precautions when handling printheads because they are ESD-sensitive devices (sensitive to ElectroStatic Discharges). After removing the orange shipping caps, avoid touching components on the bottom of the printhead, and avoid putting the printhead down on the exposed nozzles. This printer has only one printhead. Status At the printer's front panel, tap , then Printheads, then tap any printhead to see its status: ● Not present: The printer cannot detect the printhead. ● Check pending: The printhead needs to be checked. ● Missing printhead: The printhead is missing. ● Reseat required: The printhead needs to be removed and reinserted. ● Remove: The printhead needs to be removed. ● Incompatible printhead: The printhead is not compatible with the printer. ● Printhead replacement incomplete; start again: The printhead replacement process needs to be restarted. ● Replacement required: The printhead needs to be replaced. ● Non-HP agent detected: The printer has detected a non-HP agent among its consumables. ● Ready: The printhead is working normally. Tools needed ● HP 3D400 Printhead Kit ● Gloves (required) ● T20 screwdriver ● Lint-free cloth NOTE: Printhead replacement is guided by the front panel, which will show you how to replace the printhead. The steps described below are meant to be done as prompted by the front panel. The procedure may be started by responding to an alert, or from the Printhead detailed information screen (accessed from the Supplies menu). 1. A new printhead must be acclimated to a normal operating temperature. If it has been shipped or stored in a cold environment, it may need up to 24 hours to reach operating temperature. 2. HP recommends wearing a mask. You will need a new priming tray (included in the printhead kit), and the alignment plate included with the printer.
