Air Filter Replace the air filter element at the intervals recommended in the periodic maintenance table beginning on page 72. Replace the element any time it becomes extremely dirty or contaminated. Tip: Inspect the air filter often if riding in unusually wet or dusty conditions. Maintenance Element Access Cover 1. Remove the air filter access cover and air filter element using the universal tool (provided under the left side cover) or a #2 Phillips screwdriver. 2. To remove debris from the element, use low-pressure air and blow from the rear forward. CAUTION! Wear face protection when using pressurized air. 3. Do not apply air filter oil to the paper element. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the edge of the air filter element frame. 4. Reinstall the element and access cover. Do not over-tighten the access cover screws. 77
