Maintenance Drive Belt Condition Replace the drive belt if it is cracked or has broken teeth or frayed edges. No matter its condition, the drive belt should be replaced at periodic intervals. See the VICTORY Service Manual or your authorized VICTORY dealer. DO NOT attempt to check belt tension if the belt has been exposed to rain or washing within a 24 hour period or if the belt is hot from riding. Allow the belt to cool down to ambient temperature before measuring belt tension. To obtain the maximum drive belt service life possible, VICTORY recommends the replacement of both sprockets as a set if the drive belt system has over 5,000 miles (8,000 km) of service at the time of damage or failure. Drive Belt Tension Inspection Checking drive belt tension involves using the belt tension gauge (P/N PV-43532). Before beginning this procedure: • Make sure the drive belt is dry and at room temperature. • Make sure the rear suspension is properly adjusted. See page 86.
