Battery Maintenance Battery Removal 1. Remove the seat and left side cover. 2. Remove battery cover retaining nuts, and remove the cover. WARNING! Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative (black) cable last. 3. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cables (black cables with ends exposed) first. 4. Disconnect the positive (+) cables (cable ends are covered with a red boot). 5. Slide the battery out. 115

Slide the battery out.
