Vehicle Identification Number Component Identification The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped into the front of the steering head and also appears on the certification label. Component Identification Engine Identification Number The engine identification number is a combination of the engine model and serial numbers. The first 8 digits are the engine model number and the last 5 digits are the serial number.
