Disconnect the cables from the battery, first from the (-) terminal and then the (+) terminal. Slide and remove the battery to the rear. Clean the battery using a solution of baking soda and water. Be sure that the cable connections are clean. Perform a visual inspection. Inspect for defective or cracked case and cover, and loose or damaged terminal posts or cables. Replace battery and/or cables immediately if any damage is found. Battery Characteristics The battery installed in this Mule is a sealed type. It is not necessary to check the battery electrolyte level or add distilled water to a sealed type battery. The sealing strip should never be removed after the specified electrolyte has been installed in the battery for initial services. However, in order to maximize battery life and ensure that it will provide the power needed to start your vehicle you must properly maintain the battery's Battery Installation • Put the battery in place.

Disconnect the cables from the battery, first from
the (–) terminal and then the (+) terminal.
Slide and remove the battery to the rear.
Clean the battery using a solution of baking soda
and water. Be sure that the cable connections are
clean.
Perform a visual inspection. Inspect for defective
or cracked case and cover, and loose or damaged
terminal posts or cables. Replace battery and/or
cables immediately if any damage is found.
Battery Installation
Put the battery in place.
Securely connect the red cable with protective cap
to the (+) terminal, and then securely connect the
black cable to the (–) terminal.
Put a light coat of grease on the terminals to pre-
vent corrosion.
Cover the (+) terminal with its protective cap.
Reinstall the battery holder and rear cover.
WARNING
