108 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Injection Pump The injection pump sends the fuel to the injection nozzles under high pressure. The mechanical governor controls the amount of fuel injected, and is set to satisfy the engine's needs. The idle speed adjustment should be performed in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart or whenever the idle speed changes. j Idle Speed Adjustment A. Throttle Pedal B. Locknut C. Injection Pump
The injection pump sends the fuel to the injection
nozzles under high pressure.
The mechanical governor controls the amount of
fuel injected, and is set to satisfy the engine’s needs.
The idle speed adjustment should be performed in
accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart or
whenever the idle speed changes.
Idle Speed Adjustment
Apply the parking brake.
Put the gear shift lever in the N (neutral) position.
Start the engine, and warm it up thoroughly.
DANGER
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a
colorless, odorless poisonous gas.
Inhaling carbon monoxide can cause serious
brain injury or death.
Do not run the engine in enclosed areas. Op-
erate only in a well-ventilated area.
Lift the cargo bed and support it with the rod.
Use a suitable tachometer to measure the idle
RPM. If it does not match the specification, pro-
ceed as follows.
Remove the injection pump cover by releasing two
bolts.
