Start the engine, allow it to idle for several minutes, and then turn it off. Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir. If it is not full, remove the coolant reservoir cap, fill the reservoir with the recommended coolant, and then install the cap. Check for any coolant leakage. 1. V-belt wear limit The V-belt should be checked before each ride. To check the V-belt 1. Remove the shroud and the left side cover, and then remove the drive guard. Make sure that the drive guard is tightened securely before operating the snowmobile to protect against severe injury or death from a broken V-belt or other part should it come off the snowmobile while it is in operation. WARNING When installing a new V-belt, make sure that it is positioned properly. Otherwise, the V-belt clutch engagement speed will be changed and the snowmobile may move unexpectedly when the engine is started, which could cause an accident. ECS00511 ECS00830 NOTICE Never run the engine with the V-belt removed. Clutch components can be damaged. NOTICE As the V-belt wears, the position of the Vbelt will change. If the V-belt position is out of specification, it must be adjusted to ensure proper clutch performance. 56

ant reservoir cap, fill the reservoir with the
recommended coolant, and then install
the cap.
7.
Check for any coolant leakage.
TIP
If you find any leaks, consult a Yamaha deal-
er.
8.
Install the top cover.

V-belt
WARNING
EWS00401
Coming in contact with the rotating V-
belt or clutch parts can cause severe in-
jury or death. Never run the engine with
the drive guard removed.
Make sure that the drive guard is tight-
ened securely before operating the
snowmobile to protect against severe
injury or death from a broken V-belt or
other part should it come off the snow-
mobile while it is in operation.
NOTICE

Never run the engine with the V-belt re-
moved. Clutch components can be dam-
aged.
The V-belt should be checked before each
ride.
To check the V-belt
1.
Remove the shroud and the left side cov-
er, and then remove the drive guard.
(See pages 21 and 42 for removal proce-
dures.)
2.
Check the V-belt for wear and damage.
Replace if necessary.
3.
Install the drive guard, and then install the
left side cover and the shroud.
To replace and adjust the V-belt

When installing a new V-belt, make sure
that it is positioned properly. Otherwise,
the V-belt clutch engagement speed will
be changed and the snowmobile may
move unexpectedly when the engine is
started, which could cause an accident.
