Lanyard Key Releasing the throttle slows forward motion but the engine will still be running, so you can steer the boat after reapplying the throttle. In this manner you can turn and move away from any obstacles. Push the stop button when you are approaching the shore and intend to stop. The engine stops immediately, so it prevents sand or debris from entering and damaging the jet pump. Never run the engine in water less than 0.8 m (2.5 ft) deep.
