76 SAFE OPERATION Turning the Vehicle The new rider must learn this turning technique to make turns smoothly and quickly. Slide forward on the seat, and turn the handlebar in the direction of the turn. Lean your body to the inside of the turn while shifting your body weight onto the footboard on the outside of the turn. WARNING HAZARD Turning improperly. WHAT CAN HAPPEN ATV could go out of control, causing a collision or overturn. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD Always follow proper procedures for turning as described in this section. Practice turning at low speeds before attempting to turn at faster speeds. Do not turn at excessive speed. Practice turning at low speed in a large, open practice area. Slow down before entering a turn and use the throttle to maintain an even speed through the turn. When the turn is completed, straighten the handlebar and reposition your weight. j
