Preparation Operation Setting the sleep timer Switching the display's brightness Operations possible during playback Switching the filter characteristics Use this function to automatically switch the power to the standby mode after a specific amount of time (minutes). Press SLEEP during playback and select the setting time. • The sleep timer can be set to up to 90 minutes, in steps of 10 minutes. • After about 3 seconds, the setting is entered and the display returns to as it was before. nnCanceling the sleep timer Either press SLEEP to select "Sleep 1 OFF" or press X (on/standby). nnTo check the time remaining until the sleep timer is activated Press SLEEP. Switching the illumination lamp setting The illumination lamps on the both sides of the unit main panel can be turned on or off. • The default setting is "On". Press and hold DIMMER for 2 seconds or longer. • The on/off setting changes as follows with each press of the button. On Off Press DIMMER. • The display brightness is adjusted each time DIMMER is pressed as shown below. 100% 70% Off 40% • When the display brightness is set to "Off", the DISPLAY OFF indicator lights on the display. If you operate the buttons when the display brightness is set to "Off", the display temporarily lights at "100%" brightness level. Listening with headphones Plug the headphones (sold separately) into the headphone jack (PHONES). Adjusting the Volume Turn LEVEL on the main unit. NOTE To prevent hearing loss, do not raise the volume level excessively when using headphones. 2 filter characteristic types can be selected for DSD source, and for PCM source. The 2 filter characteristics types are explained below. Filter Type PCM source Offers a short impulse response for both pre- echo and post-echo. Suitable for large- Filter 1 information-content audio. Produces a deep sound image with clearly-defined positional relationships of the audio sources. This filter offers asymmetrical impulse response. The post- echo is slightly longer Filter 2 than the pre-echo. Resembles analog sound quality. DSD source This is a direct mode in which there is no filtering versus the DSD data (Super Audio CD recording signal). The original source data is reproduced as it is, along with the original texture and space. DSD data exceeding 100 kHz is attenuated. Also equipped with DACs for normal-phase and inverted-phase signals (23 each). The asymmetrical DAC operation gives priority to the resolution, resulting in a smoother sound. Press FILTER. • The setting cycles through the 2 modes (Filter 1/Filter 2) as shown below each time the button is pressed. Filter 1 Filter 2 • This can also be set by pressing DIMMER on the main unit. NOTE The "Noise Shaper", "DC Filter" and filter characteristics have a last memory function. Setting the sleep timer
Use this function to automatically switch the power to the
standby mode after a specific amount of time (minutes).
Press

Canceling the sleep timer
Either press

Switching the illumination lamp setting
The illumination lamps on the both sides of the unit main panel
can be turned on or off.
The default setting is “On”.

When the display brightness is set to “Off”, the DISPLAY

Listening with headphones
Plug the headphones (sold separately) into the headphone
jack (PHONES).
Adjusting the Volume
Turn

NOTE
To prevent hearing loss, do not raise the volume level
excessively when using headphones.
Switching the filter characteristics
2 filter characteristic types can be selected for DSD source,
and for PCM source. The 2 filter characteristics types are
explained below.
