DBG-2000 User Guide MTU The MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) is the largest packet that can be sent over the network. For PPTP connections, it is 1492 Bytes. e. When you select PPPoE as the connection type, it displays the following page: Fields Address mode IP address Subnet mask User name Password Service Authentication type Reconnect mode Maximum idle time DNS Servers MTU Description PPPoE Select Dynamic IP or Static IP (IP settings supplied by your ISP). If you select Static IP as the address mode, enter the IP address supplied by your ISP. If you select Static IP as the address mode, enter the subnet mask supplied by your ISP. Enter your PPPoE user name. Enter your PPPoE password. If your ISP supports Service, enter the service name. It is an optional field. Select the type of Authentication to use (Auto-Negotiate, PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP, or MSCHAPv2). Select one of the following options: Always on: The connection is always on. On-demand: The connection is automatically ended if it is idle for a specified number of minutes. Enter the number of minutes in the Maximum Idle Time field. This feature is useful if your ISP charges you based on the time that you are connected. This field is available only when On-demand is selected. Select either Get dynamically from ISP or Use these DNS servers to enter DNS servers manually. The MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) is the largest packet that can be sent over the network.
