Macintosh OS 9.x Macintosh OS 9.x 1 Open the Mac OS 9.x folder on your SCSI Card 2906 CD and double-click on the installer icon shown at right. 2 Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Files will be installed as follows: I Adaptec SCSI Card 2906 driver will be installed in the System Folder/Extension folder of your system disk. I SCSIProbe will be installed in the System Folder/Control Panels folder of your system disk. See the table on Information for Macintosh Users on page 38 for details on Mac OS 9 utilities and drivers. 3 Restart the computer to complete the installation. The SCSIProbe control panel makes drives available on your desktop after system startup. 4 Ensure that the Mount Drives at Startup option on the SCSIProbe control panel is checked. If it is not checked, your drives will not show up on the desktop when you start your system. Macintosh OS X The driver is not embedded in early releases of Mac OS X (for example, OS X 10.0 through 10.0.4). To install or update the driver, follow the steps in this section. Note: Some utilities may not be compatible with Mac OS X. Check the Adaptec Web site at www.adaptec.com for the latest information. Warning: Do not run the installer if you have changed the permissions for any of the directories on this path: /System/ Library/Extensions; the driver might overwrite these directories. Also, do not run the installer if you have set up any of these directories to be symbolic links (similar to aliases in OS 9); the system may not function properly. 20
