Turn the steering stem locknut with a stem nut
wrench (special tool:
57001-1100) to obtain the
proper adjustment.
A. Steering Stem Locknut
B. Stem Nut Wrench (Special Tool: 57001-1100)
Install the steering stem head to the original posi-
tion.
Apply a non-permanent locking agent to the front
fork clamp bolts (upper).
Apply the specified torques to the steering stem
head nut and front fork clamp bolts (upper).
Tightening Torque
Steering Stem Head Nut:
98 N·m (10.0 kgf·m, 72 ft·lb)
Front Fork Clamp Bolts (Upper):
23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17 ft·lb)
NOTE
°
Tighten the two clamp bolts alternately two times
to ensure even tightening torque.
Install the handlebar (see Handlebar section), and
check the steering again and readjust it if neces-
sary.
Check the front brake for the proper brake effect,
or no brake drag.
Install the removed parts.
