Instruments, Features and Controls Ignition Switch The ignition key operates the ignition switch and parking lights. The ignition switch provides electrical power to the ignition, the lighting system and all electrical switches and buttons. Before starting the engine, read the instructions for starting the engine. See page 48. Engine Off In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are inactive and the ignition key can be removed. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the ignition key when leaving the motorcycle unattended. Engine On/All Lights On In the ON position, all electrical circuits are energized and the ignition key cannot be removed. The headlamp, taillight, and instrument lights illuminate. The engine stop/run switch must be in the RUN position to start the engine or activate the turn signals and other electrical features. Parking Lights On In the PARKING LIGHTS ON position, the taillight, indicator lights and license plate light illuminate. The radio can be operated and the instrumentation is active. The emergency flashers can be activated, and the ignition key can be removed. You must push the ignition key into the switch while selecting this position. Parking Lights On Engine On/All Lights On Engine Off Seat Heater Switches (CROSS COUNTRY TOUR) The seat heater switches are located on the lower left edge of the seat. Instruments, Features and Controls
Ignition Switch
The ignition key operates the ignition switch and parking lights. The ignition switch provides
electrical power to the ignition, the lighting system and all electrical switches and buttons.
Before starting the engine, read the instructions for starting the engine. See page 48.
Engine Off
In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are
inactive and the ignition key can be removed.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
remove the ignition key when leaving the motor-
cycle unattended.
Engine On/All Lights On
In the ON position, all electrical circuits are ener-
gized and the ignition key cannot be removed.
The headlamp, taillight, and instrument lights
illuminate. The engine stop/run switch must be in
the RUN position to start the engine or activate
the turn signals and other electrical features.
Parking Lights On
In the PARKING LIGHTS ON position, the taillight, indicator lights and license plate light
illuminate. The radio can be operated and the instrumentation is active. The emergency
