Instruments, Features and Controls Ignition Switch The ignition key operates the ignition switch and parking lights. The ignition switch provides electrical power to the ignition, the lighting system and all electrical switches and buttons. Before starting the engine, read the instructions for starting the engine. See page 46. OFF In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are inactive and the ignition key can be removed. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the ignition key when leaving the motorcycle unattended. Off On Park ON In the ON position, all electrical circuits are energized and the ignition key cannot be removed. The headlamp, taillight, and instrument lights illuminate. The engine stop/run switch must be in the RUN position to start the engine or activate the turn signals and other electrical features. PARK In the PARK position, the taillight, indicator lights and license plate light illuminate. The radio can be operated and the instrumentation is active. The emergency flashers can be activated, and the ignition key can be removed. You must push the ignition key into the switch while selecting the PARK position. 19

Ignition Switch
The ignition key operates the ignition switch
and parking lights. The ignition switch pro-
vides electrical power to the ignition, the
lighting system and all electrical switches and
buttons. Before starting the engine, read the
instructions for starting the engine. See page
46.
OFF
In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are
inactive and the ignition key can be removed.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position
and remove the ignition key when leaving the
motorcycle unattended.
ON
In the ON position, all electrical circuits are energized and the ignition key cannot be
removed. The headlamp, taillight, and instrument lights illuminate. The engine stop/run
switch must be in the RUN position to start the engine or activate the turn signals and other
electrical features.
PARK
In the PARK position, the taillight, indicator lights and license plate light illuminate. The
radio can be operated and the instrumentation is active. The emergency flashers can be acti-
vated, and the ignition key can be removed. You must push the ignition key into the switch
