Mechanical Clutch MAINTENANCE Clutch Lever and Cable 1. Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and release it. It should move freely and smoothly and should return to its rest position quickly when released. 2. Clutch lever freeplay is the amount of clutch lever movement from the rest position to the point of cable resistance. Freeplay (gap) should be 0.5-1.5mm. Measure the gap between the clutch lever and the lever housing. Adjust clutch lever freeplay if necessary (see page 106). NOTE: The starter interlock switch is dependent on the clutch lever freeplay being set correctly to ensure activation of the clutch safety switch. 3 2 1. Clutch Lever 2. Lever Housing 3. Mechanical Clutch
Clutch Lever and Cable
1.
Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and release it. It
should move freely and smoothly and should return to its rest
position quickly when released.
2.
Clutch lever freeplay is the amount of clutch lever movement
from the rest position to the point of cable resistance. Freeplay
(gap) should be 0.5-1.5mm. Measure the gap between the
clutch lever and the lever housing. Adjust clutch lever
freeplay if necessary (see page 106).
NOTE:
The starter interlock switch is dependent on the clutch lever freeplay being
set correctly to ensure activation of the clutch safety switch.
