Operator Safety Safety WARNING POTENTIAL HAZARD Stalling, rolling backwards or improperly dismounting while climbing a hill. WHAT CAN HAPPEN The vehicle could overturn. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD Maintain steady speed when climbing a hill If all forward speed is lost: Keep your weight uphill. Apply the front brakes gradually (right lever). When fully stopped, apply the foot brake as well and then lock the parking brake. If the ATV begins rolling backwards: Keep weight uphill. Never apply engine power. Never apply the rear brake while rolling backwards. Apply the front brake slowly. When fully stopped, apply rear brake as well, and then lock the parking brake. Dismount on uphill side, or to either side if pointed straight uphill. Use the K-Turn to turn the ATV around and remount. See page 86. 43
