Maintenance Engine Oil Recommendations Always check and change the engine oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 97. Polaris recommends the use of Polaris PS-4 PLUS Performance Synthetic 2W-50 4-cycle oil or a similar oil designed for use in 4-stroke manual clutch ATV and motorcycle applications. See page 188 for the part numbers of Polaris products. NOTE: Do not use Polaris PS-4 Performance Synthetic 10W-40 Oil. Always use 2W-50. CAUTION Mixing brands or using a non-recommended oil may cause serious engine damage. Always use the recommended oil. Never mix oil brands. NOTE: If the ATV is used year-round, check the oil level frequently. A rising oil level could indicate the accumulation of contaminates such as water or excess fuel in the bottom of the crankcase. Water in the bottom of the crankcase can lead to engine damage and must be drained. Change the oil immediately if the oil level rises. 108
