74 HOW TO RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE WARNING The muffler and exhaust pipe are very hot while the engine is running and just after the engine stops. This can ignite a fire, resulting in property damage or severe personal injury. Do not idle or park your vehicle in an area where flammable materials such as grasses or dry leaves may contact with muffler or exhaust pipe. WARNING Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be explosive under certain conditions, creating the potential for serious burns. Turn the ignition switch "OFF". Do not smoke. Make sure the area is well ventilated and free from any source of flame or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot light. • Lock the steering to prevent theft. żWhen stopping near traffic at night, you can leave the taillight on for greater visibility by turning the ignition key to the P (park) position. żDo not leave the ignition switch at P position too long, or the battery will discharge.
