124 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Engine Vacuum Synchronization Engine vacuum synchronization must be checked and adjusted periodically in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart only by a competent mechanic following the instructions in the Service Manual. Idle Speed The idle speed adjustment should be performed in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart or whenever the idle speed is disturbed. Adjustment Start the engine, and warm it up thoroughly. Adjust the idle speed by turning the idle adjusting screw. żPoor engine vacuum synchronization will cause unstable idling, sluggish throttle response, and reduce engine power and performance.
