Charging the battery (fig. 57) Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from the motorcycle. Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first, and then the red positive terminal (+). Undo the straps (1) and remove the battery. Warning Batteries develop explosive gases: keep battery away from heat sources and flames. Charge the battery in a well ventilated room. Connect the battery charger leads to the battery terminals (red to positive terminal +, black to negative terminal -). Important Make sure the charger is off when you connect the battery to it, or you might get sparks at the battery terminals that could ignite the gases inside the cells. Always connect the red positive terminal first. Warning Keep the battery out of the reach of children. Charge the battery at 1 A for 5-10 hours. 1 - E + fig. 32 41
