Periodic maintenance and adjustment 9. Remove the engine oil drain bolt and its gasket to drain the oil from the crankcase. 11. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the Oring of the new oil filter cartridge. 12. Install the new oil filter cartridge with an oil filter wrench, and then tighten it to the specified torque. Tightening torque: Oil filter cartridge: 17 Nm (1.7 m·kgf, 12 ft·lbf) 13. Install the engine oil drain bolts and their new gasket, and then tighten the bolts to the specified torques. Tightening torques: Engine oil drain bolt (crankcase): 10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf) Engine oil drain bolt (oil tank): 16 Nm (1.6 m·kgf, 11 ft·lbf) 14. Add 2.0 L (2.11 US qt, 1.76 Imp.qt) of the recommended engine oil to the oil tank, and then install and tighten the oil filler cap and the cylinder head cap. 15. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off. 16. Remove the oil filler cap, and then add sufficient oil of the recommended type to raise it to the "H" level mark on the dipstick. (See above for the checking procedure.) NOTICE: When adding the engine oil, be careful not to fill above the "H" level mark on the dipstick. Use only the recommended oil. (See page 75.)
