Periodic maintenance and adjustment INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Call physician immediately. G EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention. Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame, cigarettes, etc. away. Ventilate when charging or using in an enclosed space. Always shield your eyes when working near batteries. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. G G Do not charge the battery quickly. ESU12338 Replacing a fuse EWS00550 WARNING Be sure to use the specified fuse. A wrong fuse could cause electrical system damage or A FIRE HAZARD. ECS00631 NOTICE Be sure to turn the main switch to the off position and disconnect the negative battery lead to prevent accidental short-circuiting. The main fuse, the EPS fuse, and the fuel injection system fuse are located under the air filter case. The fuse box, which contains the fuses for the individual circuits, is located behind the right side cover. 1. Remove the shroud, the left and right side covers, and the top cover. (See page 50 for removal procedures.) 2. Remove the headlight unit. (See page 76.) 3. Loosen the joint clamp bolts. Charge or have a Yamaha dealer charge the battery as soon as possible if it seems to have discharged. Keep in mind that the battery tends to discharge more quickly if the snowmobile is equipped with electrical accessories. EWS00610 WARNING G G G G G Never smoke around the battery while it is being charged. Sparks may ignite the hydrogen gas created by the battery. Disconnect the negative lead first, then the positive lead from the battery. Connect the positive lead first, then the negative lead to the battery when installing the battery. Never connect the battery to or disconnect it from the snowmobile while it is being charged. Sparks may ignite the hydrogen gas created by the battery. Make sure that the battery terminals are tight. 1 ECS00843 NOTICE G 1. Joint clamp bolt To charge a VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) battery, a special (constantvoltage) battery charger is required. Using a conventional battery charger will damage the battery. 4. Unhook the air filter case fastener and disconnect the air temperature sensor coupler. 79
