Periodic maintenance and adjustment When installing the spark plug, always clean the gasket surface. Wipe off any grime from the threads and tighten the spark plug to the specified torque. Spark plug tightening torque: 12.5 Nm (1.25 m·kgf, 9 ft·lbf) ECS00382 ESU12910 Adjusting the throttle cable free play ECS00410 NOTICE Be sure to adjust the engine idling speed first. 1. Remove the shroud and the right side cover. (See page 38 for removal procedures.) Loosen the locknut. Turn the adjusting bolt in or out until the specified throttle cable free play is obtained. Start the engine and warm it up.
3.
Turn the throttle stop screw in or out to
adjust the engine idling speed.
4.
Install the shroud.

Adjusting the throttle cable free
play

Be sure to adjust the engine idling speed
first.
1.
Remove the shroud and the right side
cover. (See page 38 for removal proce-
dures.)
2.
Loosen the locknut.
3.
Turn the adjusting bolt in or out until the
specified throttle cable free play is ob-
tained.
4.
Tighten the locknut.
5.
Install the right side cover and the shroud.

Checking the throttle override
system (T.O.R.S.)
Check the T.O.R.S. for proper operation.

When checking the T.O.R.S., take precau-
