MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION Filter Systems Air Filter Service 1 1. Remove the seat, release the clips, and remove the 2 air box cover. 2. Loosen the clamp and remove the filter. 3. Remove the fabric type pre-filter (1) from the main filter (2). Wash the pre-filter in soapy water, then rinse and let dry. 4. Reinstall the pre-filter over the main filter. (Replace the main filter if needed.) 5. Reinstall the filter into the air box and tighten the clamp. Do not over tighten the clamp, as filter damage could occur. Breather Filter/Hose CAUTION Operation of your vehicle without a breather filter can cause engine damage. Always reinstall the breather filter after removing for service. 1. Remove the clamps and pull the filter (1) out of the hoses. NOTE: It's not necessary to remove the lower hose from the engine. 1 2. Inspect the filter for debris. Blow gently through the filter in the direction of the arrow to check for clogging. Replace if needed. 3. Check the hoses for cracks, deterioration, abrasion, or leaks. Replace as needed. 4. Reinstall the filter and secure the clamps. NOTE: The filter is effective with the arrow pointing in either direction. 90

Reinstall the pre-filter over the main
filter. (Replace the main filter if needed.)
5.
Reinstall the filter into the air box and tighten
the clamp. Do not over tighten the clamp, as filter damage could
occur.
BreatherFilter/Hose
CAUTION
Operationofyourvehiclewithoutabreatherfiltercancause
enginedamage. Alwaysreinstallthebreatherfilterafterremoving
forservice.

Remove the clamps and pull the filter (1)
out of the hoses.
NOTE:
It’snotnecessarytoremovethe
lowerhosefromtheengine.
2.
Inspect the filter for debris. Blow
gently through the filter in the direction
of the arrow to check for clogging.
Replace if needed.
3.
Check the hoses for cracks,
deterioration, abrasion, or leaks. Replace as needed.
4.
Reinstall the filter and secure the clamps.
