Drive Belt MAINTENANCE Adjust Drive Belt Tension WARNING Care should be taken to be sure the motorcycle will not tip or fall while elevated. Severe personal injury or death may occur if the motorcycle tips or falls. Notice Before adjusting drive belt tension, inspect wheel alignment. (See Align Rear Wheel, page 90). 1. Loosen the rear axle nut (A) on the left end of the rear axle. 2. Loosen lock nut (B) on both the left and right axle adjusters. 3. Turn axleadjusters (C) on eachadjuster withan 8mmhex toolclockwise (as viewed from behind the motorcycle) an equal amount (if wheel is in alignment) or turn each adjuster in or out as required to align wheel and achieve proper tension (see Check Drive Belt Tension, page 87). 4. When alignment and belt tension is correct, tighten the rear axle nut. Torque: 65 ft-lbs (88 Nm) A B C 5. Recheck drive belt tension. 6. Pump rear brake pedal several times to reset brake pad distance. 7. Slowly rotate the rear wheel. If the wheel does not rotate smootly, inspect the wheel bearings, axle, and brakes. Refer to the Service Manual or contact an authorized Victory dealer. 89

Drive Belt
Adjust Drive Belt Tension
Care should be taken to be sure the motorcycle will not tip or fall while elevated. Severe personal
injury or death may occur if the motorcycle tips or falls.

Notice
Before adjusting drive belt tension, inspect wheel alignment.
(See Align Rear Wheel, page 90).
1.
Loosen the rear axle nut (A) on the left end of the rear axle.
2.
Loosen lock nut (B) on both the left and right axle adjusters.
3.
Turnaxleadjusters(C)oneachadjusterwithan8mmhextoolclockwise
(as viewed from behind themotorcycle)an equal amount (ifwheel is in
alignment)orturn each adjusterin orout as required to align wheel and
achieve proper tension (see Check Drive Belt Tension, page 87).
4.
When alignment and belt tension is correct, tighten the rear axle nut.
Torque: 65 ft-lbs (88 Nm)
5.
Recheck drive belt tension.
6.
Pump rear brake pedal several times to reset brake pad distance.
7.
Slowly rotate the rear wheel. If the wheel does not rotate smootly, inspect the wheel bearings, axle, and brakes.
