MAINTENANCE Clutch Check Clutch Lever and Cable 1. Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and release it. It should move freely and smoothly and should return to its rest position quickly when released. 2. Clutch lever freeplay - the amount of clutch lever movement from the rest position to the point of cable resistance - should be between 0.020-0.040 inch (.5-1.0 mm). Measure the gap between the clutch lever and the lever housing. 3. Adjust clutch freeplay if necessary (see page 106). Clutch
Check Clutch Lever and Cable
1.
Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and release it. It
should move freely and smoothly and should return to its rest
position quickly when released.
2.
Clutch lever freeplay - the amount of clutch lever movement from
the rest position to the point of cable resistance - should be
between 0.020-0.040 inch (.5-1.0 mm). Measure the gap between
the clutch lever and the lever housing.
3.
Adjust clutch freeplay if necessary (see page 106).
NOTE:
The starter interlock switch is dependent on the clutch lever free-
play being set correctly to ensure activation of the clutch safety switch.
