MAINTENANCE General Maintenance CAUTION If spark plug color indicates overheating, the cause of this condition must be identified and corrected to prevent damage to the engine. Spark Plug Removal and Replacement WARNING Hot parts on the exhaust system or engine can cause burns and result in serious injury. Never attempt to remove the spark plug while the engine is warm. Remove the spark plug with the special wrench (1) provided in the tool kit. 1 Remove the spark plug cap. 2 Rotate the plug counterclockwise and remove it. 3 Install the new spark plug, rotating clockwise. 1 4 Torque to 18-22 ft. lbs. (2.5-3 kg/m). 5 Check spark plug gap (refer to your Owner's Manual Supplement). 6 Install spark plug cap. 114

Removethesparkplugwiththespecialwrench(1)providedinthetool
kit.
1 Removethesparkplugcap.
2 Rotate the plug counterclockwise
andremoveit.
3 Install the newspark plug, rotating
clockwise.
4 Torqueto18-22ft.lbs.(2.5-3kg/m).
5 Checksparkpluggap(refertoyour
Owner’sManualSupplement).
6 Installsparkplugcap.
Ifsparkplugcolorindicatesoverheating,thecauseofthis
conditionmustbeidentifiedandcorrectedtopreventdamage
totheengine.
CAUTION
Hotpartsontheexhaustsystemorenginecancauseburns
andresultinseriousinjury. Neverattempttoremovethe
sparkplugwhiletheengineiswarm.
