BASIC OPERATION 5 ■■ Receiving and transmitting CAUTION: DO NOT transmit without an antenna. 1 NOTE: Before using the transceiver for the first time, the battery pack 2 must be fully charged for optimum life and operation. See Section 4 for battery charging. 3 1. Push [▲] or [▼] to select a channel. ••When a signal is received, " " is displayed. 1 Select a channel. 4 2. (p. 19) 18 zz Push [VOL/SQL] while holding down [PTT] to turn the function ON or OFF. ■■ Adjusting the volume level You can adjust the volume level while the "VOL" icon is blinking. 1. Push [VOL/SQL] once to enter the Volume Adjustment mode. 2. Push [▲] or [▼] to adjust the volume level. 3. Push [VOL/SQL] twice to exit the Volume Adjustment mode. 11
