Prerequisites CAUTION: Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS setup program's settings to default. Before removing the I/O board along with the coin-cell battery, it is recommended to note the BIOS setup program's settings. 1 Remove the optical drive (optional). 2 Remove the base cover. 3 Remove the battery. 4 Remove the hard drive. Procedure 1 Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the system board. 2 Peel the I/O-board cable from the palm rest and keyboard assembly. 3 Remove the screw (M2x4) that secures the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. 4 Lift the I/O board, along with the cable, off the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Procedure for computers shipped without optical drive 1 Disconnect the coin-cell battery cable from the I/O board. 2 Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the system board. 3 Remove the two screws (M2x4) that secure the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Prerequisites
CAUTION:
Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS setup program’s settings to default. Before removing the I/O board
along with the coin-cell battery, it is recommended to note the BIOS setup program’s settings.

Remove the
optical drive
(optional).

base cover
.

Remove the
battery
.

Remove the
hard drive
.
Procedure
1
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the system board.
2
Peel the I/O-board cable from the palm rest and keyboard assembly.

Remove the screw (M2x4) that secures the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.

Lift the I/O board, along with the cable,
off
the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Procedure for computers shipped without optical drive

Disconnect the coin-cell battery cable from the I/O board.

Open the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the system board.
3
Remove the two screws (M2x4) that secure the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
