Charge the battery Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from the motorcycle. Remove the left-hand side fairing (page 246). Unscrew the screw (1) and remove the battery mounting cover (2). Slide out the battery (3) from its housing and, always starting from the negative terminal (-), loosen the screws (4). Remove the positive cable (5), the ABS positive cable (6) from the positive terminal and the negative cable (7) from the negative terminal. 1 2 Fig 167 4 7 4 6 5 3 Fig 168 253
