Starting the engine Before starting the engine, become familiar with the controls you will need to use when riding. NORMAL AMBIENT TEMPERATURE 1 Attention Never start or run the engine indoors. Exhaust gases are poisonous and may lead to loss of consciousness or even death within a short time. Move the ignition key to position (1,Fig. 62). Make on sure both the green light N and the red light the instrument panel come on. Attention Fig. 62 The sidestand must be fully up (in a horizontal position), as its safety sensor prevents engine start when down. Attention The oil pressure light should go out a few seconds after the engine has started. Important The engine can be started with sidestand down and the gearbox in neutral. When starting the bike with a gear engaged, pull the clutch lever (in this case the sidestand must be up). Note 108

Starting the engine
Attention
Before starting the engine, become familiar
with the controls you will need to use when riding.
NORMAL AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
Attention
Never start or run the engine indoors. Exhaust
gases are poisonous and may lead to loss of
consciousness or even death within a short time.
Move the ignition key to position (1,Fig. 62). Make
sure both the green light N and the red light
on
the instrument panel come on.
Important
The oil pressure light should go out a few
seconds after the engine has started.

Attention
The sidestand must be fully up (in a horizontal
