Starting the engine Before starting the engine, become familiar with the controls you will need to use when riding. NORMAL AMBIENT TEMPERATURE 1 Attention Never start or run the engine indoors. Exhaust gases are poisonous and may lead to loss of consciousness or even death within a short time. Move the ignition key to position (1,Fig. 62). Make on sure both the green light N and the red light the instrument panel come on. Attention Fig. 62 The sidestand must be fully up (in a horizontal position), as its safety sensor prevents engine start when down. Attention The oil pressure light should go out a few seconds after the engine has started. Important The engine can be started with sidestand down and the gearbox in neutral.
