CHAPTER 2: Introduction to the HAL System RAD27 - USB Audio The RAD27 provides a USB audio interface to the HAL system capable of simultaneous stereo playback and recording. Since the RAD27 uses native operating system drivers, no driver installation is required on either Windows operating system or Apple OS X. Once the operating system recognizes the RAD27, the blue "Connected" LED on the RAD27 illuminates. Macintosh Computer Setup When OS X detects the RAD27, it adds it to the list of audio input and output devices, but does not automatically set it as the default device. Some OS X based applications allow you to select the device you want to use. Other applications only use the device specified as the OS X default. We recommend that you set the default audio input and output device to the RAD27 before starting the application you want to use. Configure the default audio device in OS X by navigating to: System Preferences > Sound > Output: 37

set it as the default device. Some OS X based applications allow you to select the device you want to use. Other
applications only use the device specified as the OS X default. We recommend that you set the default audio input
and output device to the RAD27 before starting the application you want to use.
