MAINTENANCE Rear Suspension Inspect Swing Arm and Rear Axle 1. Sit in the operator's seat and slowly bounce the rear suspension a few times. Make sure the suspension moves freely without binding. 2. Elevate the rear of the motorcycle until the rear wheel is off of the ground. Use an appropriate motorcycle lift or a block of wood or steel placed securely under the frame. 3. Grasp the rear tire and attempt to move the rear wheel side-to-side. NOTE: If there is movement at the rear axle, inspect the wheel bearings and rear axle (see the VICTORY Service Manual or an authorized VICTORY dealer). If there is movement at the front of the swing arm, check the swing arm pivot nut torque. If movement is still present, inspect the swing arm pivot bushings (see the VICTORY Service Manual or an authorized VICTORY dealer). 4. With the transmission in neutral, slowly rotate the rear wheel. If the wheel does not rotate smoothly, inspect the wheel bearings, rear axle, belt adjustment, and wheels alignment (see the VICTORY Service Manual or an authorized VICTORY dealer). 104

1.
Sit in the operator’s seat and slowly bounce the rear suspension a few times. Make sure the suspension moves
freely without binding.
2.
Elevate the rear of the motorcycle until the rear wheel is off of the ground. Use an appropriate motorcycle lift or
a block of wood or steel placed securely under the frame.
3.
Grasp the rear tire and attempt to move the rear wheel side-to-side.
NOTE:
If there is movement at the rear axle, inspect the wheel bearings and rear axle (see the
VICTORY
Service Manual
or an authorized VICTORY dealer).
If there is movement at the front of the swing arm, check the swing arm pivot nut torque. If movement is still
present, inspect the swing arm pivot bushings (see the
VICTORY Service Manual
or an authorized VICTORY
dealer).
4.
With the transmission in neutral, slowly rotate the rear wheel. If the wheel does not rotate smoothly, inspect the
wheel bearings, rear axle, belt adjustment, and wheels alignment (see the
VICTORY Service Manual
or an
authorized VICTORY dealer).
