Headlamp Adjustment The headlamp should shine straight ahead of the motorcycle. The top of headlamp high beam should be just below the center of the lamp at a distance of 25 feet (7.62 m). The low beam pattern spreads farther right of center than the high beam High Beam (U.S. & Canada). 1. Check and adjust the tire pressure (page 119) 2. Verify rear suspension ride height measurement is at specification (see page 95) before adjusting headlight. 3. Straddle the motorcycle in an upright position and sit in the operator's seat. 4. Set the ignition switch to the ON position and set the headlamp to High beam. Check the headlamp for correct aim. 5. To adjust the headlamp vertically, loosen pivot nut (1) while holding bolt. Aim headlight and hold in position while tightening nut. Torque: 35 ft-lbs (47.5 Nm) 6. To adjust the lamp horizontally, loosen the nut (2), aim headlight and hold in position while tightening nut. Torque: 28 ft-lbs (38 Nm) 7. Verify proper headlamp adjustment and re-adjust if necessary. 25 feet (7.62 m) MAINTENANCE Center of Headlamp 1 2 131
