Fuel System MAINTENANCE Check Fuel Hose, Rail, and Connections Inspect the fuel hoses for cracks or damage. Inspect the hose connection at the fuel pump and at the fuel rail for dampness or stains from leaking or dried fuel. Check Crankcase Ventilation Hose and Connections Remove the operators seat and fuel tank. Inspect the crankcase ventilation hose for cracks or damage. Inspect the hose connection at the air cleaner and at the crankcase for dampness or stains from leaking. Evaporative Emission Control System (California models only) Visually inspect all evaporative emission control system hoses and connections. Make sure all connections are tight. Also, inspect the evaporative canister to make sure it has not been damaged. Fuel Tank Removal / Installation 1. To remove the fuel tank, remove the operator's seat. 2. Remove the fuel line access cover (1). 3. Remove the two front and one rear fuel tank mounting screws. 4. Unplug the fuel pump wire harness at the rear of the tank. 1 101

Fuel System
Check Fuel Hose, Rail, and Connections
Inspect the fuel hoses for cracks or damage. Inspect the hose connection at the fuel pump and at the fuel rail for
dampness or stains from leaking or dried fuel.
Check Crankcase Ventilation Hose and Connections
Remove the operators seat and fuel tank. Inspect the crankcase ventilation hose for cracks or damage. Inspect the
hose connection at the air cleaner and at the crankcase for dampness or stains from leaking.
Evaporative Emission Control System (California models only)
Visually inspect all evaporative emission control system hoses and connections. Make sure all connections are tight.
Also, inspect the evaporative canister to make sure it has not been damaged.
Fuel Tank Removal / Installation
1.
To remove the fuel tank, remove the operator’s seat.
2.
Remove the fuel line access cover (1).
3.
Remove the two front and one rear fuel tank mounting
screws.
4.
Unplug the fuel pump wire harness at the rear of the tank.
