OPERATION Driving Safely Sidehilling WARNING Crossing hillsides or turning on hills can result in loss of control or vehicle overturn, resulting in severe injury or death. Avoid crossing the side of a hill when possible. When unavoidable, exercise extreme caution. Avoid operating on steep hills (15_ maximum). Driving Downhill Whenever descending a hill, follow these precautions: 1. Proceed directly downhill. 2. Slow down. 3. Apply the brakes slightly to aid in slowing. WARNING Traveling downhill improperly could cause loss of control or vehicle overturn. Always check the terrain carefully before descending a hill. Never descend a hill at high speed. Excessive speed may result in loss of vehicle control and lead to serious injury or death. Always operate slowly when traveling downhill. Avoid descending a hill at an angle, which would cause the vehicle to lean sharply to one side. Travel straight downhill when possible. 42
