Shift Speeds Up Shift Light Your manual transaxle Oldsmobile has an up shift light. This light will show you when to shift to the next highest gear for best fuel economy. A CAUTION: I you skip more than one gear when f you downshift, you could lose control your vehicle. of And you could injure yourselfor others. Don't (5) shift from FIFTH to SECOND (2) or from FOURTH (4) to FIRST (1). A I NOTICE: If you skip more than one gear when you downshift, or if you race the engine when you downshift, you can damage the clutch or transaxle. When this light comes on, you can shift to the next highest gear if weather, road and traffic conditions let you. For the best fuel economy, accelerate slowly and shift when the light comes on. While you accelerate, it is normal for the light togo on and off if you quickly change the position of the accelerator. Ignore the shift lightwhen you downshift.
