40 GENERAL INFORMATION To start the engine, push the starter button with the front or rear brake applied in any shift position. j Choke Lever The choke lever on the left handlebar provides a rich mixture for cold starting conditions. Pull the choke lever all the way to the left to start the engine. Warm the engine up by operating the choke lever and throttle until the idle speed is stable, then push the choke lever all the way back to the right. żFor the electric starter to operate, the engine stop NOTE switch must be set to the "RUN" position, the ignition switch must be turned to the "ON" position, and the brake must be applied, if the shift control is in a position other than "N" (neutral). Reverse Power Assist Switch (Override): This vehicle is equipped with a reduced reverse speed system. If additional power is needed while backing up, hold the reverse power assist switch in. When the switch is released, the vechicle's speed and power return to the reduced mode. żIf the choke is left on (lever to the left) too long after the engine has warmed up, it will cause spark plug fouling and poor fuel economy. To start the engine, push the starter button with the
front or rear brake applied in any shift position.
NOTE

For the electric starter to operate, the engine stop
switch must be set to the “RUN” position, the ig-
nition switch must be turned to the “ON” position,
and the brake must be applied, if the shift control
is in a position other than “N” (neutral).
Reverse Power Assist Switch (Override):
This vehicle is equipped with a reduced reverse
speed system. If additional power is needed while
backing up, hold the reverse power assist switch in.
When the switch is released, the vechicle’s speed
and power return to the reduced mode.
Choke Lever

Pull the choke lever all the way to the left to start

choke lever and throttle until the idle speed is stable,
then push the choke lever all the way back to the

the engine has warmed up, it will cause spark plug
fouling and poor fuel economy.
