106 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Valve Clearance Valve and valve seat wear decrease valve clearance, upsetting valve timing. NOTICE If valve clearance is left unadjusted, wear will eventually cause the valves to remain partially open, which lowers performance, burns the valves and valve seats, and may cause serious engine damage. A. Spark Plug Cap j • Unscrew the spark plug. Spark Plug Fitting the plugs into the plug holes. • Insert Toughen the plugs with the specified torque. • Put the spark caps in place and pull up lightly • to make sure plug of its good fitting. Valve clearance for each valve should be checked and adjusted in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart. Inspection and adjustment should be done by an authorized Kawasaki dealer. Valve Clearance (Engine Cold) INTAKE 0.10 ∼ 0.15 mm (0.004 ∼ 0.006 in.) EXHAUST 0.20 ∼ 0.25 mm (0.008 ∼ 0.010 in.)

A. Spark Plug Cap
Unscrew the spark plug.
Spark Plug Fitting
Insert the plugs into the plug holes.
Toughen the plugs with the specified torque.
Put the spark plug caps in place and pull up lightly
to make sure of its good fitting.
Valve Clearance
Valve and valve seat wear decrease valve clear-
ance, upsetting valve timing.
NOTICE
If valve clearance is left unadjusted, wear will
eventually cause the valves to remain par-
tially open, which lowers performance, burns
the valves and valve seats, and may cause
serious engine damage.
Valve clearance for each valve should be checked
and adjusted in accordance with the Periodic Main-
tenance Chart.
Inspection and adjustment should be done by an
authorized Kawasaki dealer.
