(When [Directional] is selected in Step 2) Select an item. [SURROUND]/[STEREO]: Records sounds with the setting of [MIC SETUP] ([SURROUND] or [STEREO MIC]). [MONO]: Records sounds from all directions without setting specific directivity. 4 Touch [EXIT]. ≥ appears on the screen. ≥ Depending on the recording condition or sound quality, the desired effect may not be achieved. ≥ The option is set to [Auto] when an external microphone is connected. ≥ (When [Music] or [Festival] is set) j The volume of the recorded sounds may be lower than that of the sounds recorded with [Auto]. ≥ (When [Speech] or [Nature] is set) j Sounds recorded with these effects are less realistic than those recorded with [SURROUND] or [STEREO MIC] in [MIC SETUP]. [5.1ch/2ch] You can switch the channel number setting of the built-in microphone. MENU : [RECORD SETUP] # [5.1ch/2ch] # desired setting [5.1ch]: [2ch]: Records with the 5.1ch. Sounds near the front of the unit are recorded more clearly if you zoom in (close-up) and surrounding sounds are recorded more realistically if you zoom out (wide angle). The forward sound is recorded more clearly by enhancing the directionality toward the center.
