I am using Outlook as my PIM, but I cannot do a HotSync operation. s Click the HotSync Manager and choose Custom. Check that the correct conduit is active. s Check that the correct conduit is installed. Reinstall the HotSync Manager and make sure the correct conduit is selected. I cannot launch the HotSync Manager. s Make sure you are not running another program, such as America Online, CompuServe, WinFax, or AppleTalk networking that uses the serial port you selected in the Setup dialog box. s Backup the Palm Desktop software, uninstall it, then reinstall it. I tried to do a local HotSync operation, but it did not complete successfully. s Make sure your handheld is seated onto the HotSync cradle/cable correctly. s Check the connection between the HotSync cradle/cable and the serial port or USB port on your computer. s Make sure the gold-plated connectors on the HotSync cradle/cable and your handheld are clean. Use a pencil eraser to clean them. s Read the HotSync Log for the user account for which you are performing a HotSync operation. s Tap the HotSync icon in the Applications Launcher, tap Local above the HotSync icon, and then select Direct Serial from the pick list below the icon. s Make sure the user name you selected in Palm Desktop software matches the user name assigned to your handheld. s Make sure the date on your computer matches the date on your handheld. s Check the conduit settings in Palm Desktop software.
