Troubleshooting Problem Cause/Solution Randomly spaced bright pixels ("noise") appear in image. Subject is dark, and either the shutter speed is too slow, or ISO sensitivity has been raised. • Use flash. • Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting. • Applying Noise reduction in the shooting menu to suit situations. • Choosing scene mode with noise reduction. Pictures are too dark (underexposed). • Flash is W (off ). • Built-in flash has been blocked by foreign objects. • Subject is beyond flash range. • Adjust exposure compensation. • Raise the ISO sensitivity. • Subject is backlight during shooting. Raise the built-in flash, set Backlight of the scene mode or set the flash mode to X (fill flash), and then shoot the picture. Pictures are too bright (overexposed). Adjust exposure compensation.
